Owner/Head Coach: Tom Cheviot

Hi, I’m Tom Cheviot, owner and head instructor at Virtue Martial Arts. Martial arts has been a central part of my life for over 15 years, both as a competitor and a coach. My background spans Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and Mixed Martial Arts, and I’ve been fortunate to train with outstanding instructors and compete alongside talented athletes from around the world.

What matters most to me now is teaching. I’ve had the privilege of working with students of all ages and experience levels, and seeing their growth—physically, mentally, and emotionally—has been the most rewarding part of my journey. I believe martial arts is about far more than techniques; it builds confidence, resilience, discipline, and community.

Before founding Virtue Martial Arts, I spent seven years working as a social worker in Massachusetts. That experience deeply shaped how I coach. It reinforced the importance of empathy, structure, and meeting people where they are—values I bring into every class.

At Virtue, my goal is to create a supportive, challenging, and welcoming environment where students can grow not just as martial artists, but as people. Whether you’re stepping onto the mats for the first time or looking to sharpen your skills, I’m here to guide and support you every step of the way.
